Level 3 in engineering maintenance/ electrical engineering

What attracted you to Veolia?

Veolia has a long and diverse history with an enviable reputation based upon its ethics and values. I saw the chance to work for such a company a great opportunity.

What development are you receiving as part of your apprenticeship?

As part of my apprenticeship I have completed a mechanical engineering course, started a HNC in electrical/electronic engineering whilst also undertaking my NVQ in engineering maintenance. I have also attended courses including:

  • IOSH safety passport
  • Roadside health and safety
  • Health and safety in the workplace
  • Abrasive wheels training
  • Respiratory protective equipment training

What support do you receive from Veolia?

I receive ongoing support from a network of people including my assigned mentor, contracts manager and learning advisor.

What is the best thing about working for Veolia?

I believe the best thing about working for Veolia to be the wide variety of work undertaken by the company. It exposes you to a plethora of processes and operations you never knew existed, such as turning ice cream waste into energy!

What is it like in your team?

Our team is across two midlands based water effluent plants. Good teamwork and trust are high on our list of priorities as our work requires efficient communication and confidence in each other’s abilities.

What have you achieved that has made you feel proud during the time on your apprenticeship so far?

I believe I have grown in confidence during my apprenticeship due to the continued development and support given to me to allow me to grow into my role.

What advice/hints/tips could you offer someone who wanted to apply for an apprenticeship at Veolia?

If you are an ambitious individual seeking to develop your skills and knowledge, and work in a challenging and rewarding industry helping to “resource the world” then just be yourself.
