Don’t think university is for you but want a degree?

We think university is great. It can open up a world of possibilities, allowing you to explore a subject you’re passionate about.
Equally, as you can guess, we’re pretty passionate about apprenticeships. They give you a chance to head straight into work while completely recognised qualifications. It is important for to work out which one is more suited to you.

It may seem like an impossible problem – you want or need a degree, but for some reason you simply you don’t think university is for you. Where do you go from here?

You may be interested to know in the 2012/13 academic years:

There were 510,000 apprenticeship starts.

This is 
231,000 more than in the 2009/10 academic years.

Apprenticeships are growing in popularity among both employers and young people. This unique opportunity to earn while they learn and gain a recognised qualification while notching up vital work experience is a fantastic prospect.

Between 2012/13 academic years vacancies for Higher Apprenticeships grew most significantly with an increase of 41% year on year, followed by Advanced Apprenticeships (32% growth) and Intermediate Apprenticeships (19% growth). Providing many opportunities to complete your degree through an apprenticeship.

Don’t give up on your dreams, but rather consider a solution to help you get the qualification without going the traditional university route.

Companies see apprentices as very employable and when asked to grade the employability of various qualifications apprenticeships came out on top, higher than a degree. The stats seem to show that apprenticeships are the way forward for employability, with only 4.5% of Level 4 apprentices still out of work after they finished their qualification.

How easy is it to get onto an apprenticeship?
